Default Overhead light assembly

Hello,

Hope some one can help. 2001 XK8 overhead assembly is falling out. the middle prong that looked to be plastic is broken off.

I figure the only way to secure it is to obtain a new assembly? Does anyone know where to get one and a price range.

Thanks Jerry G

Coupe and convertible are different. What are you and what color is your interior?
Maybe if you posted your vehicle description in your signature we would not have to ask.

I had the same thing happen to mine. There is a little metal clip that is attached to the plastic that broke. I found a virtually new one on ebay for $80. but when it came the metal clip was missing. Fortunately, I have the metal clip from the previous one. However, I just haven't had the time to take it apart and install yet. But, on my old one, I fashioned my own little flat bracket that holds the orignal in place if not a little loose.

Anyway, try ebay, I've seen them there on several occasions, and just make sure to ask the seller if the plastic flange and the metal clip at the front are still attached.

Good catch, tberg. I'm trying to replace mine from the previous owner's green shower still- I get a drop of goo on my pants or the console at least once a week! Dripping from the buttons and I can't get it all out. Ick.

Welcome to the forum Jerry,

The Overhead Console is fixed with 3 very sharp spring metal clips. Rectangular plastic 'tongues' in the Console moulding press into these.

I've seen an ingenious temporary fix carried out on one with a broken 'tongue' using Velcro which proved so effective it became a permanent fix!

Thanks for the info. i am keeping it in place with Velcro as we speak. I think I need some thicker pieces.
