If by chance you change out the bulbs and they still don't work, i am dealing with this issue and found out that the latch itself has a plastic part that rotates when the trunk opens to turn on the lights. so if you have no power to the lights after a change of bulbs it's a good bet the latch is the next place to look, a replacement latch on ebay(and they have a FORD stamp on them) was only $22 shipped to calif. the ford latch will not work as it does not have the plastic electric switch attached. best of luck.

42 mm should work. I just put these in my 2000 in the boot (trunk?) and they work great.

Good news. Managed to get the below bulbs ordered, installed and all is working fine. These look like good quality bulbs and the blue colour works well.

Just a follow up, replaced the trunk latch, checked out the plastic switch and it works, but the lights do not turn on....i know ....the bulbs are new and fiddled with enough so that they are properly seated in the copper thing....what now???? I know the wiring diagram but I don't see the point of all that searching around...there must be a quick fix as there is power getting to the switch and the new(used) latch has a cam that works to turn on the switch. I have given up, this should be a simple fix and it's too damn complex...i wonder how many here have no trunk lights?
