Default Back to the interior! Dark Tamo wood vinyl.

Back to the interior! Dark Tamo wood vinyl.-image.jpg
I've wrapped the yellowed wood veneer, in my newly painted car, with brushed titanium wrap and piano black details.
But after I test drove a black interior XF yesterday that had a matte finished dark walnut veneer, I'm having a hard time getting that interior out of my head! And with my dark brown new exterior, I'd like something rich inside!!
I had ordered some dark teak wrap but just found a photo of an amazing color called Dark Tamo textured wood finish. Just ordered it too. It looks so modern and fresh so I may re wrap in this. The steering wheel is still the major issue. If I could just find a late model all leather wheel, no issue.

Here's a photo of the dark tamo. I think it's the perfect compromise to keep my fascia somewhat classic, and still update it. Maybe use a bit of the titanium on the bottom of the fascia like I did with the piano black, or vice versa.

Try the titanium as an accent!

The paint is barely dry! You just can't quit can you.

I have never seen a wood wrap that didn't look cheap and plasticy. A real veneer has a depth to it that a wrap just can't seem to replicate. I have not really searched though, so there may be some better ones out there.

If I stop, I die!! Lol

I agree with the poor quality of most wood wraps. Especially the gloss ones.
But this wrap is primarily used in the furniture industry and really is a good replica of a dark satin finish wood. It's not the cheap Walmart wood finish, but more ikea (not that many jaguar people like that look). It's really similar to the new veneers jaguar has been offering. The low sheen woods.
I've debated on actually having the existing veneer re finished at some point but I want a matte finish even then. More modern.

Think I'll run the small strip with the titanium. It's all reversible so I'll try a few things.

Like the grain pattern but it still looks like stuck on plastic.

The modern Jaguar light finishes look like wood and feel like wood. Go veneer!

Default Sorry to disagree.

This is the interior I test drove and frankly, the wood simply didnt feel like the older jags. And my XF wood is the same. Although its a gloss finish. The long horizontal strip is very plastic feeling. I've even had friends ask when did jaguar go with plastic wood.
Almost every car is using touches of wood so it's much more common even on economy cars. Check out Kia. Their interiors look amazing!! For the price.
It's all subjective.
And mine is all reversible.

Why not just put an oil finish on your original wood, like you'd put on a gun stock?

Seriously!! And I found out they stopped offering the split fold rear seats on the new XF. Option only. Really ticked me off. And that new 2.0 turbo engine left me cold. There's NO growl when start up. Has good initial take off but no speed on highway. Felt cheep compaired to my current XF.
I'm going back to drive the new MKZ hybrid. I need economy on my daily car and the 2.0 XF doesn't have it for the lack of engine. Only a couple mpg better than my XK now.

Phil, just give your new titanium interior a bit of time to grow on you. I think it is modern looking and tastefully done. Just try a strip of wood where you had the piano black across the bottom...

That Titanium/Black looks so nice and fake wood has always looked cheap to me. Seems like it would be a big step back.

Where do you get these neat wraps? My X300 could use a little face lift in that area.

I was curious on if you have wrapped the wood part of the steering wheel? If so, how was the grip compared to the wood?
