Centre console won't open

The lid catch is just a plastic tang so if you are willing you can force it open and break the tang.
You could possibly slide something in the thin gap under the front of the lid to snap the tang and not risk damaging the latch parts in the lid from a brute force attempt.

Possibly the catch has not engaged properly. Try giving the lid a sharp smack downwards.
If you have to break the tang, these are the points to apply force to avoid damaging the console lid or the catch:
Slide a thin screwdriver under the tang and rotate to break.
As you can't see anything with the lid closed, here's a photo of the catch so you can see where the tang engages:
Sometimes helps to know what you're fighting!

Thank you both so very much. I managed to get the cup holder up without breaking anything somehow. The release was not engaged with the spring.
This week I got a stuck cd out, replaced the two rear markers. A huge thankyou to
Sam 1174 for the video how to. Fixed my cup holder AND fixed both headrests. I used the plastic pressure coupling.
Need to find a place to buff out a scratch on the tail light and Blam! Hurry up summer.
What a wonderful resource this forum is.
