See if you can find a TV / Radio repair shop or anyone that works on circuit boards and see if they can look at it.

I had TopHydraulics rebuild my pump mainly just because I accidentally broke one of the solenoids during pump extraction (be careful, folks!!!), I think for $400. That was a costly mistake, but no issues in the past year now.

Default Dosen't anyone think it weird...???

That the part exists, there is a company that sells it, yet there is no place to locate it? I was considering a pump on Ebay, but the guy keeps raising the price! It is now within $10 or a three year newer pump on a part web page. Bad move. Any way, there was one pump rebuild place, that goes through the pump for $150. They were vague and said they would replace the solenoid for some other price they didn't mention. I am not done yet my friends, but I may just get another pump, and still try to get it all together for the next unlucky Jaguar owner. I will check into another kind of radio repair.

Some parts which are available to re-builders are close to impossible to obtain retail. These solenoids and the throttle body TPS are two that come to mind.

Hi everyone, I was reading this due to a current issue I am having with my top.

trchaves I hope you managed to solve your issue and maybe someone else might find the following useful

While doing some research I ran across a site that offers roof pump parts and including solenoids for 1996 -2006 jaguar xk / xkr , they're not in the USA but they probably won't refuse business.

The solenoid is about $72.47 as of todays date

They are at the following website roofmotors.co.uk at Jaguar XK / XKR Hydraulic Roof Motor & Pump Solenoid 1999-2006

EDIT: Well it seems they also do other model years too!

and here is the link to view their site with everything in USD $
http://roofmotors.co.uk/jaguar-xk-xkr-hydraulic-roof-motor-pump-solenoid-1999-2006

or maybe its the same link but I'm seeing it in USD $ because i selected the USD option at the top of the page

There is a selector on top the page to view the site in many languages and currencies.

Hope this helps,
Sid

That's a nice catch, Sid.

Far as I know, no one has located a source before.

Default Thanks Sid!

Well, I "fixed" the problem by finding anot her pump. The dealership, offered one to me at $4500. I found a slightly better deal used at around $200. So yes, I still have my old pump with a broken connector on one solenoid. I will check your recommended Web site.
It was frustrating. I spent a couple of months figuring out the part, taking it to every local shop to see if it could be fixed, and finally trying to contact Germany. I even found a drone video of the plant in America, but could never get anywhere, in locating a simple part. Of course until now, I had no resource to fix the pump.

I'm on to new challenges, such as the water pipe that comes out of the radiator. I replaced the plastic pipe on top of the motor, when it cracked. Then the hose to the radiator failed. When it did. It damaged the radiator connection. Or my replacement did. So now I have a small leak in the system. It's always something!

Hi trchaves, glad to hear you found a solution with the pump.

About your pipe leak, if I can suggest, try "Silicone self fusing tape", its available at most auto parts stores for very cheap.

It comes in different lengths, get the one you need depending on the size of the leak and how much of the pipe you want to wrap, you can get a good size one for about $10. Try pepboys and advanceauto.

When you wrap the pipe with it be sure to over lap the previous wrap over and over, as the package instructions will explain. The hotter it gets the more it fuses into a rubber hose like substance and it can withstand a lot of pressure if you do it as the instructions state.

EDIT: here you go 5 yards for $3.59 https://www.pepboys.com/product/details/8976893/00165

or http://www.walmart.com/ip/Duck-Brand...-x-10/34165233

Hope this helps,
Sid

I had the same issue. Took it to a tv repair place (good luck finding one) and they helped me solder on new wires to the plastic connector and then I soldered those new wires to the wires going into the solenoid. Epoxied the whole thing back together after the soldering-so far so good. Of course this only works if the wires are in sight.

Roof motors out of the UK is still going strong and provided excellent service to me. I ordered a hydraulic pump solenoid from them and received a new solenoid replacement in a weeks time. It was a perfect fit. The cost is now approx $75, (50 pounds) plus another $40/shipping. Still more economical than a rebuild/repair or replacing the whole hydraulic unit. They are found at, roofmotors.co.uk on the web.
