Confused - 1998 XK8 Airbag Code 52
Flashes 5-2
Some information says its a loss of Power to the SRS Module
(Battery was disconnected for the winter) some information says
its something with the Seat belt latch (passenger side)
Which information is correct.
This has the BLUE SRS module right kick panel/Glove box area
HJA9662AA and has no 2 wire jump wires to clear codes (Saw that somewhere too)

Any success? I don't know when I started getting 52 (don't recall if I changed the battery or something else happened) on my '05 xj8, but it started flashing the code months ago, and it has never turned off. If code 52 is simply that power was disconnected, I would assume that the system is working (why would a manufacturer turn off the air bag system for a number of cycles when a battery is replaced)? If someone got in an accident and it didn't deploy because the battery was replaced a couple of trips ago, that's a lawsuit just waiting to happen. So is there any other reason why a code 52 shows up (and doesn't go away after months of driving)?

BTW, I just looked here, and according to this, 52 has nothing to do with interrupted power (which it had been that easy):

Code is in fact Loss of power to the module. HOWEVER I drove it over 250 miles with no AUTOMATIC reset. I read it may take 128-256 key cycles to do this and may be correct. Auto Ingenuity with the jaguar module does have access to the RCM module and has a reset which worked flawlessly. Would have saved a lot of time if someone had known this answer instead of driving this thing for 4-5 days with no help. Well I am sure this will help the next guy ... and so it goes :-)

I had the ignition switch on without the engine running while I was chasing a voltage issue related to my drivers side cabin fan. I also had the battery disconnected for awhile while I had the steering wheel removed to fix a broken wire on my trip computer stalk button. After these issues were resolved the airbag started flashing code 52. This was a couple of weeks ago with the car being driven maybe a dozen times since. The code is still flashing. The local shop that works on Jaguars said they can reset the fault, but it will cost about $100 to hook up the equipment and do it. I would rather put the $100 toward a piece of equipment to reset the code myself, but not for a $500+ price tag. I'm wondering if anyone has any current experience with this.

I got used to ignoring the flashing code 52 and the airbag light staying on after working on my AC fan wiring and trip computer stalk. Last month I noticed there was no flashing code and the airbag light went out after the normal start up. It was probably 6 months after the code started flashing that it stopped and went back to normal. There may something to the 128-256 key cycles to clear the code.
