Default do not overheat

I am in the process of putting a 2000 xk8 back into service that the previous owner continued to drive after blowing the hose at the norma connector. I thought I would share what an overheated aj 27 does when it drops the valve seat.
Boy does it chew up the works.
Lesson is if you blow a hose shut her down and call a tow truck. or carry a hose clamp to reconnect the hose.
I found pieces of the valve seat in the intake manifold.

I bet the top of the piston and the cylinder wall are damaged also.

You might also find that the pistons swelled enough to damage the nikasil bore lining and will DRINK oil when you get it running again.

Just a thought.

I have no intention of trying to resurrect the motor.. Already bought and installed a 35k jag rebuilt engine. If anyone needs cams timing cover or anything other than the block and driver side head I will make such a deal you would not believe. Listed in classifieds
