Default DSC switch does not appear to work properly

The DSC switch does not appear to function on my 2003 XK8. The button sticks in on the panel and does not light up showing the mode is disabled. Have to pry it out with thin blade. We know the DSC is all ways on unless you activate the switch and the light in switch show it is off, There is no message on the display and DSC appears to function as intended. Is there a relay plus the fuses that disable this function. Have not found info on any relays, but have cked the fuses listed in the owner manual. It has briefly shown off, but not recently. Suggestions?

If the button sticks in the panel I'd start by looking there! It's a momentary switch, so it should always return to its original position. I'd take the panel out and see what's going on.

Pop the cover off and clean it. If it's sticking, the first thought has to be it's only a switch problem.

The only effective way to do this (I know I've just done it with the both heater and hazard/trac switch packs) is to remove them from the console. My hazard switch was sticking and while I could "fix it" for a few weeks by spraying Servisol into it after popping off the cover it would fail at the most inconvenient times! You can then get to the top and bottom of the switches without taking the cover off (which actually doesn't get you to where you need to be) Spray the outside of the switches with a switch cleaner/lubricant like Servisol (not WD40) and then lube the visible plastic sliders with a switch lube (I used Deoxit fader lube - the blue one - but Servisol also make a silicone switch lube).
If you still have probs then it's likely the switch itself is broken. These are not individually replaceable but the switchpack comes up on eBay from time to time. If you have striped out the switchpacks it's a good opportunity to check/replace all the bulbs.
