WOO HOO Engine Failsafe, incorrect gear ratio, stabilty control failure, gearbox fault, no cruise, no traction control etc,

All those error messages are now gone, been driving over 320 miles in few weeks time. The brake light switch was the culprit and the cheap
S42008 $70 unit fits and works great! Use online coupons to order it online at advance auto parts. The engineer left enough harness in the car to stretch to the sensor very comfortably !

I loosened the bottom 8mm nut-TO THE SENSOR ONLY, disconnected the wire harness, pulled the old switch out by bending the bracket a little, slid the new one in, bent the bracket back, installed the nut and electrical connector, and bam ! Took ten mins!

If you have the skills to do Printed Circuit Board work...Omron D2FL3-4 is the # of the individual Micro-Switches that fit the Board. I'm using two now at a little over $13.00 from my Electronic's Store. But, $1.00 something is what they sell for from their Cat....... seek and ye shall find, wait and it shall be given unto thee.

The shorting bulb is what is believed to have caused the micro switches in the brake switch to fail over time.A local indie tells me this is very common for Jaguars.

On the circuit broad and switches lol, I can solder very well. Its just with a coupon, the switch was around $40 with the purchase of some other things, and the store by my house had it in stock, so I was very pleased !

I suggest laying a blanket or towel over the door entry while laying down, or removing the seat for more comfort.

Suspect the battery is not quite adequate.

Hi
I have a 2001 XKR and had a ASC fault. Car would go to failsafe after a certain distance.
Fault would clear and return more and more frequent as I drove. Also would get Gearbox Ratio wrong. The problem was a rear speed sensor ring loose.
See my post "ASC fault solved".
Have you had a rear wheel bearing problem? The heat generated can cause the ring to detach.
