It has been an interesting read, seeing how the production numbers have been tracked. I also like the ghost Jaguar -it is a special one (I also really like the look of the XKR coupe).

Just to give you another item to think about, my 2006 XKR Victory edition is Vin A48455. Since the last 2006 Vin A48684 was off the line in May 2005, why does my car show mfg in June 2005? (attached)

I think the difference may be time between coming off the manufacture line and in fit-finish.

Hi,

I trying to confirm if the build date shown in the VIN number is correct or not.

Or it just date was due to leave the plant as I have a 2005 build date in the VIN number and a production date of the car which is 2003 and a car made up of 2005.5MY parts as sold Jaguar Cars Ltd.

Which when order parts make it difficult to find the correct parts for may car using just the VIN Number. So I find myself looking at the 2005 / 6 parts list & fingers crossed they will be the correct version .
Has any one had this issue or am I the odd one out?

Regards

Redpoptop.

Hi
I have an issue kinda like yours, redpoptop, as my Jag service guy (dealer) said 2005 & 2006 cars had a ton of changes during production. ( I guess they were getting rid of the last parts )Hence they have had my 2006 Black Cat for a month trying to get the daytime running lights to stay on, (Canadian law) finally they have Techies from Jag head office writing a software fix just for my car.
I hope they fix soon as I want to drive the thing!

I thinks it was Graham ( the moderator) that mentioned the cars did not come off the line in number order...but the June date is a head scratcher for sure

I DID FIND THIS !

the last car VIN is SAJAC41R363A48684
and you car VIN is SAJDA42B463A48455
are days away from each other
yours was built 7 days earlier.

Go hear
Vehicle Lookup

And put in the VIN's and you'll see the last one and yours have build dates of the 8th and 14th of July 2005 ?????

It still a head scratcher!!!

Cheers
Andy

Greetings,
new to the board and came across this thread about production numbers. I have seen different info on the total numbers, and even a breakdown by color. im wondering if there is any resource that you can find to breakdown a particular car by its build sheet. reason I ask is I recently bought my 2004 XKR, it came special ordered from factory with 20' Montreals, brembo package, and a very unique color scheme of Platinum, with full cranberry red interior. considering they only produced just over 1000 XKRs in 04, there is a good possibility that this is a 1 of 1 car. Even the dealer I got it from said he had never seen another like it.

Welcome to the forum mrg108,

That two tone trim was an option in 2003/04. The usual style was for the seats to have only the inset panels in red but no reason why an original buyer could not order all red seats. You will find an example on page 85 of Nigel Thorley's you and your Jaguar XK8.

Any Jaguar Dealer can access the original vehicle build sheet from the online Direct Dealer Warranty System.

If you can shed more light on breakdown by color that would be most welcome. A lot of us here would be interested in seeing that detailed info.

thank you for the welcome, ill be sure to go to that link and check in that way as I could use all the help I can get figuring this bulletin board thing out. not the most computer savoy guy in the world.

as for the numbers of cars by color. I found some info not too long ago, it might have even been on here, that showed a breakdown of colors based on percentage, not real hard numbers IE: black 18% blue9% Etc.Etc. so not sure if that can help anyone out past what they already know.
I know that the portfolio editions had the cranberry or blue interior inserts, but I have yet to see one with the full interior such as mine. I see on the build sheet/ window sticker I have for the car there was a factory upcharge for the custom color.
Skip Smith, (you may know him from the velocity channels " caffine and octane" show) is the gent I bought my car from in Atlanta, he has been a collector of Jags for some time and he also thinks it is a one off car, just wish I could verify it. It would be nice to know, if I can manage to keep the mileage down on it that it might have a bearing on the collectors value of the car.
my choice was down to between this, and a red portfolio edition, but I was enamored by the color more then anything. in my opinion it is about as quintessentially British looking as a car can get. very James Bondish. It Certainly turns a lot of heads at the local car shows.
don't tell my wife.... im actually considering going and buying the portfolio as well .

If you or anyone else is considering buying the 2004 Portfolio, I would strongly suggest that you spend some time sitting in the seats. I found them to be very uncomfortable after about 30 minutes or so. Whereas I have driven 10 plus hours at a stretch numerous times in the standard seat without a problem.

The Recaro`s look very nice, but simply are not comfortable for long drives.

I have standard seats in one jag and recaros in the others and I am 6'1" and long legged...
find the recaros more comfortable ... but everybody is different
they do hug yur behind... caveat emptor

Default Color combination

I agree the cranberry and silver is a very nice combination, with a classic look.
Regarding color combinations, I am also interested if someone has found a listing of % produced by color. Even the Ford VIN lookup doesn't give the color.

Default Victory edition 2006

I'm recently a proud owner of a 2006 victory edition coupe. I was curious on production breakdown, I've read about the total 1050 number, so I inquired to jaguar heritage.
I just heard back from jaguar heritage and found out the breakdown of final production numbers on just the victory edition.
Victory Edition:
Convertible= 617
Coupe= 53
XKR Convertible+ 382
XKR Coupe= 67

Wow I'm 1 of 53. That's incredible. I also found it to be interesting that

06 victory edition in satin silver
the numbers add up to 1119 not the 1050
