Talking Jaguar owners' secret understanding.

This weekend I was out driving with my father inlaw and my son in the sun. The rest of the familly were in an average familly car, trying to keep up.

As we were going to a Place to eat I stopped at a parking pocket to wait for them to Catch up when a nice gray XK ~08 turned in infront of me. I waved to him and he waved back and as he saw our other car turn in to the parking, he left with all the horses singing in happiness.

so my question..

Are we so used to our cars breaking down so we stop to help when we see them by the roadside?

It's a Lovely guesture but I hope it was for Mutual admiration rather than assistance he stopped.

I think he was just glad to see another XK8, and figured if you weren't flagging him down, things were OK. I also think that because we only see the failures on this forum, we think our cars fail a great deal. I think most of the problems we read about are simply because of the age of the cars, and the sealed for life debacle, that Jaguar used to sell cars. Once I got my $3000 car, I changed ALL the fluids, the chain tensioners, and greased everything. After I replaced my sealed for death transmission, with a much lower mileage one, and cosmetics, she hasn't let me down, including my X Type.

I have put a little over 4000 miles on her since the trans change(after I purchased the car) I have driven her to S Carolina twice, and Tampa once. I love driving this car, because you don't feel beat up, after a trip.

All I did in the 4000 miles was change the oil, and do a quicky trans filter and fluid change, to be safe, and soldered the posts in the ABS module, after reading about it. These really are fine cars. I was always under the hood of my Porsches, and as for feeling beat up after a trip, my 928 is the only one I take on any kind of trip....Be cool.....Mike

I can't say I have ever seen a XK8 broke down along side the road.

Or maybe he was afraid to stop in fear of his breaking down also.
