Default Muffler Delete

Any downsides to replacing rear mufflers with something like the following?

Jaguar XK8 & XKR Mina Gallery Performance Muffler Delete Kit - Mina Gallery Inc

Seems like a fairly inexpensive way to have some fun.

Thanks.

Ok. I've done it all to my XK8 exhaust. The rear delete will be loud and really have a lot of droan in the interior.
I ordered the oval mina exhaust tips, deleted the two small mufflers just before the rear wheels, left the last set with new mina tips.
Also replaced the center resonator with an H pipe.
Perfect sound, almost like the new F type. No droan.

So you do not have any mufflers (resonators)?

I did the mina rear muffler delete and it's perfect. No interior noise and a nice sound when you step on the go pedal.

Which mina tips did you choose and why? Both options look great.

I chose the oval. They look great. Fills the opening perfectly.

I did the same and just reused the OE tips.

When I bought my XKR the center muffler had been removed and straight pipes inserted. the two end mufflers are still there. Sounds great under power and quiet in normal use.

Could i have the number for that garage?
Would i be able to just call them and tell them what i want - or can you assist in some way - i have a 98 XK8 Conv.
I would need to know exactly what you asked them to do for you.
Cheers.

I would think remove mufflers, replace with SS pipe and add two tips. That seems like a fair price. I doubt they changed the over axle portion....But this is just me guessing

I have the Adamesh rear muffler delete. It doesn't drone at all at any speed but it does sound very nice when I hit the thrust pedal :-)

I have been asked before but the garage make them up while the car is there and don't have measurements to enable exhausts to be made and despatched. I have seen ready made pipes on ebay for the xk8 and you should be able to get a local exhaust place to fit for you. I just had the rear boxes removed and s/s under axle pipes fitted.

Good luck

Hi David,
Not being a million miles away from you, can I ask where you had that done, as that sounds like good value. Also, I'm under the impression that the sound may vary between the 8 and the R which is why I'm curious about how you feel about the sound you get from yours now.

Thanks,
Andy.

Default Who has deleted their xk8 mufflers

Would you do it again. from what i have read it will give a little 2k drone but sounds good otherwise. Looks like a straight pipe back. My one muffler isn't looking to be in good shape and of course since I own a TVR i have hearing issues to being with.

When people say there is no drone with the Mina rear muffler delete, I think they mean no drone while cruising. If you are on the highway going 70 mph but are on an incline where the engine has to work a little, it will drone. I find that part of it slightly annoying, but not enough to change it out. It's kind of intoxicating the rest of the time.

Hi guys,

I also just received my Mina Exhaust for my 05 XK8...(i haven't install it, waiting for the intake to arrive)

So I received the two rear muffler boxes (with tips) and two under-the-axle intermediate sections...are the intermediate section is suppose to by pass the center muffler? So would adding an H or X pipe would further add to aggressiveness to the sound?

Also any chance that this could be a DIY job w/out lift?

Zidjan,

I just installed the Mina exhaust on my XKR. You'll have a tough time getting the resonator sections out without either a lift or cutting the pipe that goes over the axle. To refresh: in order, you have the cats, then I guess you could call it the combined "center muffler", then the two resonators, then the two mufflers, and lastly the tips. The Mina exhaust attaches to the "center muffler" but does not replace it.

The sound is very subtle at first, but as I have added miles, it is starting to mellow a bit deeper. I'm not getting any drone. I would drive it for a month or two, then decide if you want any more sound. Then replace the "center muffler" with either a X or H pipe.
