Default P0442 Error Code, Small Evap Leak

Anyone know the Part Number for ths little hose.

Small crack near clamp on hose into Vapor Control Valve

2004 XK8
I have been haunted for a while by Error Code P0442, Small Evaporative Emmison Leak. The new gas cap did not fix it. You have to love the ELM 327 and Torque application. You just clear the Engine Check Light and try again. Last night I jacked up the car and started to poke around the charcoal canisters at the back. I found it, a very hard to see crack in a small "U" shaped hose that goes into the EVAP check valve behind the differential on the passenger side. The hose clamp looked suspiscous and closer examination revealed a crack in the rubber. I have tried to take a picture that might help someone else although the orientation under the car is rather awkward. Anyone know the part # for this small "U" shaped hose. I had to undo the vapor canister to get the hose out and of course plenty of penetreating oil and patience not to break off the 10mm. nuts

Default Small Rubber Hose not available for Evap System

I went to Jag dealer at lunch, the small rubber hose is not available, it is part of a whole aluminum pipe assembly - $230.00 Canadian. As it is very difficult to get it all out with the rear end in place I think I will save that for the winter when I drop the whole rear end and just do a quick replacement repair for now.

Take the old hose to an auto parts place near you and see if they can match it up with another hose. See what they have and cut it down to size as long as the bend is correct. I have done this several times.

+1, I'm with gus. I've used other 'stock' hoses with goofy bends to fit my particular need under the bonnet. Sooooo much cheaper.

Another +1.

In a pinch, or if you're against the wall for passing one of our lovely E-tests, repair the existing hose with a blob of silicone caulking as a temporary fix. Just don't let Kathleen Wynne find out

Default I repaired with Goop and Tape

I repaired with Black Automotive Goop and that stretchy pipe sealant tape. I ordered the proper assembly of hoses and will install it properly when I am taking the rear end assembly out. Access up there with everething in place is pretty tight to be sure it is all routed properly. I still have to get 3 driving cycles in to make sure it was the only cause of the P0442 code.
