Parking brake indicator doesn't turn off

It will be caused by a fault with the Handbrake Lever switch. The best illustration of this comes from the Parts Catalogue (see item 3):
It could be the harness connector but is more likely to be a sticking or failed switch.
The only time I've changed one of these, I had the driver's seat out which made it easily accessible. Others will be able to advise whether it can be done with the seat in place.

Can't see why not ..................
Also - check that the wiring connector is firmly attached to the switch - it goes in the side as you can see from my photo - not at the base, and mine was quite loose.
It's fiddly, but I think you could probably replace the switch without taking the seat out - you would need a right-angled Philips screwdriver to be able to get in there but I think it's possible. The switch won't be expensive - a few dollars I would guess.

Yes, It could be a similar problem. It's not necessarily a bad switch. Sometimes the switch works but the metal contact that engages the switch loses its alignment with age. It doesn't contact the switch as it should.

unless there is a broken insulation on the wire and and the circuit is grounded somewhere, the switch is not a culprit. The lever release mechanism does not disengage enough to push the switch plunger down. Lubricate the mechanism and spray some WD49 in the cable too. It should solve the problem.
