Default Popping from the rear? 02 xkr

Has anyone ever experienced their XKR having some sort of popping from the rear? It usually happens when I put it in reverse, or I accelerate and get off of the gas. I'm not sure what it is or what it could be, and I don't know if I should really be concerned.

Popping is kinda generic and hard to understand, when you put it in reverse is it after you release the brake? Sounds like some drivetrain lash. There are u-joints in the half shaft to both wheels, does it come from one side? These need greased once a year... Also might have a pinion bearing loosening up, do you have any leaks?

+1 above, there are 6 U-joints in the drive line, plus the pinion bearing that could cause a sound if any of them are going out or have wear.

Yes it happens after I release the brake. It sounds one sided from the left. Is this an easy fix you can do yourself? What type of grease do I need? There's no leaks at all.

The half shaft U-joints have a standard trees seek on them. Use standard axle grease. They can be accessed by jacking the rear up.
