Rather Odd Thing Occuring...
Last week I found the slow coolant leak at the NORMA connector and so I cut off the NORMA connector as it was full of fried DEXCOOL that it would not slide off. So I replaced with a short piece of hose and a metal hose connector, three clamps.
Now here is where things get ODD....
To test my repair I started the engine, or rather tried to twice...engine stalled both times. I had not put the plastic tube back on between the throttle body and MAF....no air flow was sensed, so computer shut engine off.
Okay...put hose on and engine started and ran fine....and no coolant leak!!
Wife drives car next day and calls me that there are two messages in the display:
Curise Control Not Available
Check Rear Lights
What????
Now I have read that this is usually caused by the pedal switches, but how could repairing the heater hose cause this?
Or am I just seeing a fluke and this is completely unrelated??
Appreciate any info, comments, etc.
Thanks

Well....today I removed the brake switch assembly....sure comes out of the car easy!
Checked the continunity of both switches and both appeared to be fine. Went ahead and re-flowed all the solder connections and hoping for the best....re-installed.
Took me 2 hours to get the switch bracket back in....oh my back is sore. Yes I took out the seat, but the solution was to block the brake pedal so that it stayed down and to put my feet on the back seat instead of out the driver's door. Then I was able to get the correct angle on the bracket and found the two holes.
Wedged a towel to hold the bracket in place, got my helped to come out to start the two nuts while I held the bracket in place.
Put driver's seat back in and went for a long test drive and appears to be be fixed. Will know for sure next week when car is driven daily to work.
But seem to have a new problem..and will start a new thread on it.
Still have to replace the heater hose....that will be another day.
