I was a little amazed at the prices you get charged stateside.

We only have 2 x ZF accredited specialists in the UK, here's the one I use:

Auto Repair Tollcross, Glasgow | Mackie Automatic & Manual Transmissions

Their price for a fluid/filter change is £151/$183

At that price I could get it done as often as I want I asked them how they could do it so cheap and they advised that they buy the fluid in 1000's of liters at a time and the filters in their 100's

The kicker is they use the correct fluid and flush through the tranny and convertor, meaning you get 100% new fluid.

Yep it's an 800 mile round trip for me, but I make a weekend of it in Bonnie Scotland and realistically it only costs me £90/$110 in fuel (LPG at £0.45ppl/£2.00 per UK gallon)

A note for XK8newbie as I don't see an answer to his question: the filter is integral to the plastic style transmission pan and cannot be cleaned, nor can it be non-destructively forced apart as far as I could tell! The earlier style metal pans had separate (metal) filters that could be changed. Whether the earlier design would fit seems a bit uncertain, whether the steel pan's paper gasket works as well as the rubber O-ring-like gasket on the plastic type is questionable, and whether changing over is cost effective for an every 60k fluid / filter job seems doubtful.

A metal pan is technically available for the 6HP26. Great information here:
