Default XKR No sound from Speakers

The radio won't make a sound. Changes channels, bands, but no sound. CD changer works; changes CDs and tracks, but no sound. Is there a fuse somewhere other than the facia's? Could it be the amp? Any help appreciated.

What year is the car - 05?
It could be the amp if you have the premium ICE, but try fuse #18 (30A) in the trunk fuse box.

Default sound

Did it stop suddenly. did you have any of the plugs out of the amp, nav or cd changer? I changed a cd changer in mine and messed up when i plugged in the network cables. It made me crazy for a few days until a found a picture of the proper connections.
good luck

Ok so I checked fuse 18 and it looked fine. I swapped it with another 30amp and the radio didn't work. Started inspecting cables around the fuse box and noticed the negative battery cable was so loose I could pull it of the terminal. Put it back and the radio worked. Hard to believe everything would function but the speakers and it was a loose battery cable. Guess I'll wait for it to go again.

Weird isn't it given how tetchy the car is about battery power. I forgot to tighten the ground terminal last time I disconnected the battery and had no odd symptoms.

Glad you got the cheap fix

The battery was replaced in July and it fixed the window memory feature. I am thinking the fuse developed increased resistance over time and replacing and moving it around broke through. Seems more likely than a loose battery cable.

Like nearly everything else in this car, the radio is microprocessor based. If it experiences a power glitch, it can crash and then be in a 'soft failed' state, either in whole or in part.

This is why loose power connections can raise such havoc on modern cars.

Default Similar problem but different.

Tried the cd player in the new car yesterday and the disc is playing but only about 1% of the sound is coming from the speakers. If I turn the volume all the way up, I can just hear the sound tracks.

However, switch back to the radio and it sounds perfectly normal. Go back to the cd and can't hear it.

This is the basic sound system without the external amp.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Andy

Andy, you might want to launch a new thread. I don't see you above, not sure how this fits. If you do start a new thread, could you please explain what in the new car means ?
