XK's do that.  I have documentation!

Oh I know they do.  I need the 4 doors though...car seat is required.

That's why I also have a crew cab truck. Not as much fun to drive as the XK but hauls people as well as any sedan!

Yeah socal, I hear you there on the four doors and car seat!  If you want to get recognized you'll get a jag!  The first time I drove a black 03 x-type sport with wood steering wheel I felt like I was something special...little did I know when I picked my wife up at work and took her out to lunch everyone else thought it was special too!  The price you pay and the fact you don't mind a little tlc makes the jag a perfect fit!  How old are you so the insurance of that supercharged R doesn't get the best of ya?!!!

33...but i can't imagine it being much worse than the turbo volvo.  The insurance company didn't fall for the S60 trick...they responded with, "Is that the R model?"

I know Biggie.........but then you get away with saving a few hundred bucks maybe.........have an accident and ur insurance is void because of non disclosure and WHAM............thoudands of bucks.
Don't get me wrong......i didn't declare the ECU upgrade on the Saab, was lucky and got away with it.
I've declared it on the Audi though, cost me around £200 more, but worth it for the peace of mind knowing I am covered.

Jeez............I must be gettin old...........lol

Yeah its turbo but it is also a 2.5 liter awd and not to mention it is a volvo...I always heard that volvo's were cheap on insurance afterall they are supposed to be like the safest vehicle out there...I thought I was going to get raped on insurance for the jag but the awd airbags, dsc, abs and security system have my insurance down to less than 100 dollars a month...

Could be 1 L...they look at the horsepower rating.  Just so happens, my little 5 cyl. puts out the same hp as Chevy's 5.7L.  But, ya, the Volvo label does help.  Safety ratings still kept my insurance at a manageable rate.  Nothing that annoys me.  I got a $45k car out the door for $37k, so I'm happy with my overall monthly out-of-pocket.

I'm going to use the whole "It's a Volvo" tactic at traffic court in a few weeks.  I got a ticket a few months back and the cop gave me a 75 in a 40!  Absolutely rediculous.  I was accelerating ahead of a couple cars to get in the turn lane...I would accept 50...or even 60...but 75!  B.S.  So...I'm going to get in front of  a judge...in business attire for that work day...explain I was on my way to work after dropping my son off at daycare...how I bought a Volvo becuase I needed a safe car instead of a sports car...and I even went to the track and ran 5 1/4 mile runs to show my best 1/8 mile speeds were 72mph, consisently.  The motorcycle officer was exaclty 2/10 mile from the light I was stopped at.  In order for me to hit 75mph by the time he could get a radar reading, I would have to have power-braked it...launched it WOT, and hoped road conditions were equally matched with a Professional 1/4 mile race track. (not likely)

Anyway...I'll update a new thread when that time comes.  Hopefully, the judge knows little about new Volvos and has the old "brick" image in his head.  :P

Not looking to get the ticket thrown out.  Just presenting my case for getting a relistic fine issued.  The officer listed a radar reading, but did not show me the reading.  Radar logs are not loaded into a system at the end of any period.  Basically, when you are ticketed by an officer, he/she is basically going on record stating that they observed a specific reading that they are sure was based on your vehicle's speed.  So...I will openly submit to a plea of "guilty" if any reasonable speed was issued.  The fact that the officer listed EXACTLY 75 mph is a guidline for a specific penalty.  The fact that my specific model of vehicle can only hit a maximum speed of 72mph in 1/8 mile on a race track shows that its highly unlikely I could have reached 75mph in 2/10 of a mile, although possible.  With all of that being said, the officer was positioned perpendicular to the street I was traveling on, and had to get a radar reading at 45 degrees or more, secure his radar device, and was already pulling his vehicle from the curb as I passed him.  That's some pretty quick handy work.

I'm not trying to "get away" with anything.  I'm trying to make a point against certain officers who abuse their authority and hand out random fines and tickets without upholding the law, as defined by the courts.

This officer also issued me a Priority Re-Examination form, which required me to take a written exam, a driving exam, and a physcical medical exam, paid for out of pocket.  That, and his first question to me was, "Where do you live?"  When I responded, he retorted with, "Good, you can walk home from here!"  He also made me get out of the car, open the hood..and did a full inspection.  Looking for anything he could write up.  That day, I got a ticket for speeding based on a false reading that he made up....got a ticket for my tint, and another for no front license plate.

That, IMO, is abusing the badge a little.  Its not my fault he got stuffed in the locker in high school and now he's getting back at all of the cool crowd.  Therapy is in order.

Good luck to ya Socal........man, those guys really piss me off!
Although to be fair ( having met more than my fair share I guess) there are some pretty decent ones out there too. Generally though, traffic cops are a breed apart.
Can't you also ask to see the calibration certificate.......according to our laws, these devices MUST be calibrated at the start and end of EVERY shift!
