Personally my 03 str has been in for repairs once and sometimes twice a month every month for several days at a time since I bought it in Sept. 06. However, my other 2 XJ6's were no trouble at all.

Urgh! Thats not good to hear, what kind of problems have you been having?

Complete parking brake system replaced, Supercharger replaced, Front caliper froze and caliper, rotors and pads were replaced, coolant expansion tank and hoses replaced, engine pullys, tensioners and belt replaced and it's going in next week for wheel bearings and parking brake pads. Plus numerous transmission issues that have yet to be resolved. I do really like the car and hope that I can eventually get all of the problems resolved. I'm sure that this is not typical. I'm just not to confident in their Select Edition certification 125 point check.

That was done too! Like I said, I do love the car and hope to get all the problems resolved. If I got rid of it it would just be for another STR.  Good luck with yours!!

What do you mean by that exactly?

If I turn the Alpine system down and move the steering wheel is makes a squeeking noise, the guy at the local dealership said they would take care of it when I next put the car in for service, he said something along the lines of  "it needs to be  lubricated" he made it sound quite common.

I have to agree.  Make a deal with them--they give you a different car and you will turn this one over to them to work on as long as they need to.

Unfortunatly I bought it used so the lemon law dosen't apply. I do allways get a loaner car when it's in the shop but I bought a Jag. not a Sonata! My particular dealer has a problem trouble shooting, If it doesn't show as a code then they can never find the problem even though some are very obvious like jerky trans, lurch, high idle. They just tell me sorry but everything checks out ok or NPF. Then they always wan't to make me pay until I argue then suddenly it's free. And they charge me for diagnostics just because they can't find a solution to a problem. No code, you have to pay.

Lemon Laws apply to used cars as well as long as you bought it from a vendor.  Again, what state are you in?
