Bird droppings are higly acidic. Unfortunately as you've discovered they can be very harmful to paint, and similar to egg, can cause permenant damage. I'm not sure how proficient you are at power polishing, but if you're not I'd suggest you take your baby in to a competent detailer. While they won't in all likelyhood be able to completely remove it, they can likely improve the spot to where you waonts notice it. As for the top use a good quality soap or convertable top cleanerand a soft brush and use the suds to scrub the top. If you want some good detailing tips, you might want to look at Car Brite's web site. They may even have a rep near you for products. Hope it helps man... and watch out for those &*#% Gulls.

Jeez.......you aint kiddin XJ........I took delivery of my new Audi a little while ago now. A few days later it was back to the dealers for them to tidy up the bonnet area.
There were 5 or 6 bird drop splatters in various places only really noticeable when cleaning the car in certain light conditions. They had actually permeated thru the top coat of paint. The fix?
They had to remove a few microns of paint  and repolish to remove them!
Now thats acidic.

Jim
