In my previous post I was showing how things were broken inside the lights.

I have now repaired them both and I got better than new fully adjustable lights, I can see again further than 2 meters in front!

The first pic show the parts I made: a small alumium block, a threaded bar with a ball bearing ball welded at the end to go in the ball joint in the light assembly. It is quite simple and a lot cheaper than a complete headlight assembly.

The second shows the installation and the third the finished item. I will put some silicon around to make sure there is no leak.

As I had to use the lights while one was removed, it seems that I got an error code preventing the stepper motor to actuate, I will check this with the dealer, but I am pretty happy with the result.

Is there a free software available to read the error codes?

H.

Nice job! I'm a tool maker and know how handy it is to be able to make your own parts when you can't buy them. Plus they are usually better then store bought.

That is simply beautiful!
I made several attempts to fix the same problem only to fail and buy new assemblies.
Do you have picture of the headlights that aren't so closeup? Showing what you cut away
from the assembly, if anything?

You should really consider selling this little fix.

Forgot to add....
This is not only a xenon headlight problem. It also affect the halogen ones, too.

I just chopped off the part holding head of the white plastic adjustment screw. The picture is below. There was also a plate with the number that I removed but I did not do this on the second one as it was unecessary (always learning!)
As I was not sure at first I opened under the motor but nothing was broken there.
The "drawings" of the parts are also below. There is an additional hole in the side that I made when the block was in position (not shown on the sketch).
Good luck with your next set of lights!
H.
