I had ask this question once before "in the S-Type Forum" but with no reply's.

So I will see if the second around time is the charm "with this Forum".

This scenario happen to me today:

While cruzing around 65mph I went to pass a another vehicle.
I floor it and when I get ahead of the car my Jaguar losses power. It is like
something gave way "no power to accelerate".   And the Yellow Lite comes on
with a message in my display reading "Restricted Performance".

I am able to go about 65 mph "but zero power" , when I push the accelerator
down - nothing. I get off my exit and am going about 35 mph – still no power. It is like
it is running in reserve power.

When I get to my destination , I turn the car off. I then start the car back up
and take it done the road, it is fine now.

This is the second time this has happen in two weeks.

Any suggestion’s would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
2006 S-type 3.0

Stumped me.  Are you out of warranty?  I see the car is an '06.

Does the check engine light stay on after restart? Restricted performance would normally leave CEL illuminated.
2006 S-type, from the sound of it, sounds like possibly throttle pedal or throttle body.
Without codes hard to say. 06 should be in warranty unless miles are high. I just had an 06 XJ with 121000 miles in the shop.

I have the 6 cylinder, the codes coming up are p1000 (according to the dude who check it he said it was a dealer code) and P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

Super Jag, if you have a P0420 codes then you need a catalytic convertor. P0420 is for bank 1 catalyst below efficiency. If you care is within 8 years or 80,000 miles, you should be able to get it covered under warranty.
PM last six of VIN and I can look it up.
How many miles you have on there?
Also if you have lean codes for bank 1 and bank 2, if you have 2000-2002 S-Type then it is probably the lower breather hose or the upper breather.

Well another SOL incident it has 86,280 miles, so I guess I have to buy a new catalytic converter. When the guy read the code he said just to change the o2 sensor and it should be ok, should I do both? Oh and its a 2004

Well the dealer is coming to my office to pick up my baby tommorrow, we will see what happens, I'll keep my fingers crossed so I don't have to tap into my vacation funds to pay for the repairs.
