I get a high piched whining sound in the cabin when driving at almost any speed.
It does not sound mechanical. I can make the sound go up and down with the gas pedal.
I thought it was coming through the speakers but if I turn the radio off the whine is still there.
It's getting real annoying.
Any ideas???
Thanks

Do you have any aftermarket amplifiers or audio stuff installed?

Too vague a description. Could be center bearing, trans, t/c.

Does it do it in the rain?  I know that sounds stupid but hear me out.  It could be a window seal allowing just a dribble of air in.  In the rain or with the car wet, the water may seal the area.  Just a thought.

Ken, I't doesn't rain much here and I have not washed the car in a month.
It's not mechanical.

Mdoog, you might be on to something.
Any place I should look???
Thanks

I have the same issue in my 97 XK8, however I purchased it without realizing it had a ton of after-market amplification installed. I'm pretty sure that it is the cause of the sound, and I have found a loose wire behind one of the rear speakers, but I'm not clever enough (or have enough time) to correct the issue just yet.
