Caddy, not sure what you're asking. You don't have that cupholder in the armrest (pictured), and you WANT to add that to your car?

Take some pictures of what you have, and also under the armrest, where the hinge is.  Maybe get a dimension or two as well. Thatll help.

Caddie, you got any room beneath the armrest where that cupholder can 'pop' out?  It will most likely be wider than your armrest, from the pics, and matching the color may be hard, but I think it would be a good project to try.  I'd find a junk one first from a salvage yard, maybe a torn one perhaps, just to see if the mechanics work...then have that one matched to your leather texture and color at an upholstery shop. the plastic piece and button will have to be some color of brown though to match your interior...black or grey won't work im afraid.

whatcha think?

Don't worry about the color .Anyway, as I don't like cream interiors I am changing that  creamy to all black .This is why you don't see  the front  seats in the picture lol .That's a huge project and all the interior to be all black
I'm sending an example of what I want

That's a '94 XJ6 and as you see it came with the cupholder and same armrest just as my car

Hey Caddy, I know its a royal pain not having cup holders in our XJ40's. But I don't think itll be worth your time to do that...Have you ever owned or driven the 94 and up XJ models with that cupholder?? I can't believe Jaguar used that for as long as they did since 90% of your cup, pop can, w/e wont be in the cupholder and it WILL spill! lol. Not to mention they break fairly easy.

True story. I was driving my dads 2000 XJR a summer or 2 ago with THAT cupholder design. I had a nice Tim Hortons Iced Cappiccino in there and I turned into the mall oh doing no more than 10mph and the iced cap went flying into my lap and as I attempted to catch it so it didnt get all over the XJR's gorgeous interior I know sooner looked up and I drove right up onto the curb and into the median...So YEA. the cupholder...God Bless.

Do what I did, buy the aftermarket cupholders from pep boy. autozone, wherever that can fold up,which slide inbetween the window and door panel where theres a decent sized gap on our XJ40s where that vent looking thing is. When you dont need it throw it in ur glovebox. Works like a charm!!

I owned an X300 w/ cupholders .Actually, I rarelly use it in my cars but you know you own a Jaguar and if you have a late model XJ40 , you should have all the options .I also considered of having an aftermarket cupholders but you know since it's a Jaguar everything should be OEM lol
Other than that well those hinges are plastics not metal that'swhy they are quite fragile .I bought a brand new armrest w/ cupholder . If it's broken then I will buy one of those that comes w/ metal hinges aka improved cupholders .

Greetings Cadillac,

The '94 console lid with cupholder installed is a direct fit to 1988-1993 XJ40. The only requirement is to also install a striker, sold separately as an installation kit when new. Yours just has a magnet on the lid and a corresponding flat plate on the console to hold the lid closed.

Let me know what color lid you need, and I'll see what I have. I do have a complete black interior from a '93, it's not terribly difficult to retrim a car but the parts aren't cheap. Best wishes,

Andrew Bernstein
