I have an 1990 XJ40 and it has metric wheels , these are expencive and difficult to obtain , can anyone please help on what imperial size/s that would fit? i.e.225/55/16 ?

Nope, only chance you must replace your rims .Your car has 220 65 VR 390 from what I get

hi thats correct there are 220 65 VR 390 wheels on at the moment,
so if i changed the wheels for 16" rims with the 225/55/16 tyre , it wouldnt scrape on the wheel arch?

No, that wouldn't happen anyway as I recall '90 was the last year for 220 65 VR 390 tires .

yey they fit , thanks for your help , the 16" rims and tyres fit perfectly, thanks , now i can have cheaper tyres and it passed the MOT, bye for now , hope this thread helps others out too.
