what's up. I have a 93 XJ6 with (2) 12" Alpines in the trunk myself. Do you plan on hooking up everything yourself? If you do you should have or prolly already have the long thick red sub cable that connects to your battery and all the way to the head unit. That's another thing too, I have an aftermarket Alpine head unit that allows the subs to be plugged right into the back of it so you can control the bass/sub level, etc. I don't know how else you'd do it without an aftermarket head unit. But anyways, my whole set up only cost $700 with install at my local stereo shop. It might be worth looking at whatever shop is close to you that does car audio just so nothing goes wrong when you attempt to fiddle with your Jag's electric system...that could end up bad, especially since you have an earlier XJ40. I've hooked up a sound system before with my buddy in his Jeep and it wasnt terribly hard as long as you're patient enough when taking panels off, etc to run the main wires to the head unit. I didnt want to attempt anything like that in my Jag personally, which is why I had it all installed professionally. If you do attempt it yourself I don't know where you got your sub and sub box from but just go to a local car audio shop, bestbuy, ciruitcity, etc and they'll at least tell you what wires, adapters, etc you'll need to do it yourself and those items usually come with simple wiring diagrams so you know where you're going to hook each up. Hope this sorta helps bud!
