We just picked up a 04 X type, last week.
What a cool car!!!!!
Within 2 days we had the windows tinted and new wheels and tires.

Its in the shop right now getting some minor work done.
Fogs didnt work, humming in dash (they told me that was normal), Wierd sterring noise, and some sort of scrape noise from the rear, when an adult rides in the back and you go over a bump. (The dealer called back and cant seem to find the problem) I checked underneath and there is no visible tire scraping, maybe its worn springs and is a bump stop noise??

Any how, great to find this site!!!

Hey xnaked and welcoem to the forum.....Glad you like your X
Re the scrape noise from the rear...Have you had bigger rims fitted like 18's or 19's maybe or were they fitted when you bought the car? It could be one of the causes  of the problem you mention.
With an 04 you should have a car thats had most of the bugs worked out.....Enjoy

Cheers

Jim

We used the same stock 17" size wheel that the car came with.

The humming is the aspirator motor in the dash. The little grill to the right of the steering column. It is not normal for it to make noise. They should run silently. If it is making noise, it has some fuzz in the fan. You could try taking some compressed air and blowing it out but that likely will not work. We normally replace it for that noise. Also the instrument pack may make some noise when the speedo and take come down to almost idle speed.

The weird noise from the steering is likely the squeek. There is an additive the dealer should put in to cure it. It is almost like a kind of electrical noise but not.....kind of like the beastie boys mixing the 33's....lol

The scraping noise from the rear is harder to figure without hearing it. If only with adults in rear, likely suspension related. Make the dealer load up the back of the car with their biggest techs and go drive it. The plus side of that is you have 4 or 5 opinions on it also.

So we took it to http://www.monteshelton.com/

They said the humming in the dash was normal.

It is going back for the squeek in the steering. (you are right, almost electrical sounding scrape. I told them it kinda sounded like a fast zipper)

It has been on the rack and they cant figure out where the scrape noise is coming from.

Welcome xnaked
As FJT said humming is most likely aspirator motor
Are you sure the noise in the rear isnt more like a creeking noise when going over bumps?
