YAHOO>>> another wheel bearing X-type this tim... - 3/2/2008 6:00:28 AM    bojangles Posts: 1160 Joined: 10/23/2006 Status: online Yesterday I put my x up on 4 jackstands and let it run in top gear, I have a bad wheel bearing noise going for the last 2 weeks.  I am on front wheel bearing #7 so I doubted that it could be yet another one of them, but the rears are the 2 original ones.  It sounded like a rear bearing, but I could not be certain from the drivers seat. Once the car was runing in the air, the culprit was clearly coming from the left rear. I was worried that this might have been the rear diff, because it started soon after I changed the diff oil. I crawled under the car and the noise is clearly from the left rear hub, not the diff. so I think that is good news. OK.. so I need to change the bearing, any advice on this job? You can get it off with a regular puller if you are careful. A hint on the front hub bearings btw. I know your problem is rear. I think you have to pull the hub then press out bearing. It has been a long time since I did X rear bearing.
