My wife's 2005 S-type R was coming off lease the end of this month so we were thinking about picking up an XF.  The dealer called today to let us know they had a few come in.  They said they were putting the XF supercharged on the showroom floor so if we wanted to drive one we would have to look at it right away.  We went in and drove it.  Long story short we bought it.  I always thought the S-type looked gorgeous but the XF parked next to it took away the luster (just my opinion).  We only put a few miles on it so far so can't report much yet.

I saw two XFs in my dealer showroom today too...one silver base model, the other was a white supercharged. Sat in the silver one and it felt really good. Couldn't figure out how to change gears though... lol

Can't wait to see pics of yours, and congratulations!  I hear it is alot heavier than it's predecessors.

H2Oboy,
I'm not sure of the actual weight of the vehicles, but the XF feels heavier and larger.  I haven't played around with it enough to comment on actual performance.  There was a lot of ice on the road when we took the test drive so we had it in winter mode most of the time.  In that mode it is much more refined than the S-Type R was in snow, but the STR was also absolutely incredible in the snow with the Michelin snows on.  On dry roads I set it to performance mode for a short period and it makes a huge difference but we are still babying it a lot.  My wife has been driving it more than I- It's her birthday present.
As far as ride is concerned it's firmer than the STR but still more refined than the CTS-V.

The XF supercharged comes in at about 4000lbs. Heavier than S but much quicker. Doesnt feel as quick, but look at speedometer and you will know. I love the XF. Driven about 20 so far and they are great. Let's hope it stands the test of time.

And welcome to the forum.

Congrats on your new ride and  enjoy it  . You gotta try new '08 CTSs  as well   .However I think XF taking Jaguar's reputation even a few step further

Congrats..I hope I can afford one in about two years..by then IF there is any bugs, they will surely be worked out by then..I've learned the hard way on too many first year models...But I'm sure the XF will be very near perfect right out of the box..too much lost reputation to gain back not to be..so it should be their new and improved image all the way around.

Thanks everyone.
I seriously considered a '09 CTS-V but they aren't out yet.  I owned a 2005 V and it was a great car, but I (my wife) also owned the '05 S-type R at the same time and we really prefered the Jag.
When i first saw the CTS-V, which we bought first, I thought "nice car" but the decision to buy was all about the performance.  I also looked at S-Types but the reaction was also "nice car, nice lines, etc" but the performance was just OK.  When i first saw the STR it was pure lust.  I gave it to my wife for her birthday but in a way it was more for me.  (I hope she doesn't see that
The Jag was much more refined but maybe not quite as quick.  Plus there were at least 4 CTS-V's in our town but for the three years we had the STR i never saw another one around here.  People were always admiring the STR.
It seemed the only people that recognized the V for what it was were high school age boys?  It's not that it's bad, but i prefer to talk about cars with adults.
The new CTS is everywhere around here.
What I REALLY wanted was a XF-R, but they aren't ready yet.  See what next year brings.
