Hi Guys,

After a lot of back and forth I finally got my first Jag - a silver 2004 XJ8. The car has 37000 miles on it, 1 owner and very very clean. I paid $18000 for it which I think is a great deal. I am not a rich guy so I am VERY happy with my purchase. Glad I didn't buy the overpriced LS430 (although it's a great car too).

Question for you guys. I obviously need to get some kind of warranty for this car since I plan on keeping it for at least 3-4 years. Even though it's out of factory warranty, dealer says he can sell me a comprehensive Jag warranty bumper to bumper 3yr/75000 miles , 200 dollar deductible for 3200K. Is it worthwhile to get this warranty? What has your experiences been in terms of getting money out of them for major work? I have read these forums and some folks have had nightmares getting dealers to accept these so-called "jag backed" warranties. Please advice.

Also do you know if there is a group buy or discount available for such warranties?

Warrantydirect wants 2700 for a similar type of warranty but they are a risk retention group which scares me.

I will appreciate you input.

Viper

The warranty they are talking about sounds like Jag extra mile. As far as ext warr co. go they are good.
The problems people were having was not that, it was more getting things covered. Make sure you get a comprehensive coverage list. If dealer says they cannot get it they are lying. Extra mile can fax them coverage. I would trust extra mile before most other after market ones.

Congrats, and a wise decision over the rebadged Toyota (sorry lol) the XJ simply beats it hands down though! I wouldnt buy one without an extended warranty... it sounds like its past time on the original, however the price sounds slightly high with that deductable. Although, one trip could easily pay for the whole thing and lots more!

Wow, what a great price for that mileage! I thought I got a deal on my 2004 at $27k and 42k miles! I went with the Continental Warranty. For a car this complex and expensive you definitely need some kind of warranty.
