Hi There New to the Forum and the Jaguar Just bought a XK8 and noticed there is a speaker fitting in the rear parcel shelf where I assume a single bass speaker once sat (no longer there- just above fuel tank) Taped up are two sets of wires with push connectors which again I assume are for the missing speaker (Push connector 1 has two wires Yellow/Black and Pink/Black and connector 2 has two wires Pink/White and Green/Black) - Is this a special Jag speaker or can I go to my local Car Audio and buy the said beastie and fit it myself - any advice on size, spec etc.. would be much appreciated Nick

No, I missed the year, sorry...it was in the title! 97coupe, got it. Pretty sure an 8" can fit, as the hole is just shy of a 10" opening (200mm is what the subwoofer size is from the factory), from what i remember. I'd suggest either direct swap out with an 8" (w/ an adapter piece), or risk altering the hole permanently and getting a car audio place to cut out the hole for a custom fit 10". I'd do the 10", but thats just me. The car audio shop will help you pick a subwoofer make/model that is 'free-air' designed to work best with this type of installation. Here's the wiring diagram...looks like you have the standard audio system, and if I am not mistaken, you will actually have to connect those wires to the amplifier. Doesn't look like it is pre-wired. If the existing amp doesn't have enough 'punch' to satisfy you (which it may not with an aftermarket sub, look to have a small mono amplifier added in the trunk to help you out. More tips sure to follow. good luck.
