The transmission on my 2000 XJR is acting very oddly these days.  Shifting is very poor when first driving the car in the morning.  Shifting from Park to Reverse there is a delayed reaction before the car goes into gear.  Also there are several warning lights on the dash that are lit up such as the anti-lock brakes and traction control.  Not sure if the warning lights are related to the transmission or if that is some other problem.  Car appears to drive fine once it warms up but the warning lights stay on untill the car is shut off.  Starting the car again will often clear the warning lights.

2000 XJR, 70K miles

The abs light is not related to the transmission. You would need to get codes read to be sure what the fault is. We could all guess on here, and be way off. Need the codes to tell you for sure.

With the transmission, there is a bulletin for supercharged cars, to replace the transmission control module. I think. It may be for the XKR. I will research it and repost.

EDIT - The TSB is for normally aspirated XJ/XK Vin A00083-A30644 and F00103-F59525

Sorry for the confusion.

I'm new here but been playing with my 2003 X-type and 2002 XKR conv for about 4 years. The abs, traction control are linked to the transmission. First check your fluid level. Also check the Illumination module and make sure they light up on the selected gear.
Let us know what happened

XJR has a dipstick hole. You just need to have the special MB tool to check it.

I have the tool. I can get you the length so you can get any mesh wire strong but flexible and cut to length.
Also check the illumination control module. Does it light up when you select P ,R,D,1,2,3?

I have a 2001 XJR... could you tell me the length of the dipstick so I can make one?
I have 60,000 miles on mine and I took a sample... ugh!  Brown with a tad of pink
in it... Trying to find Shell ATF 3403-M115 is another story!!!

Your help is appreciated...

Jeremy
