Yes so I was supposed to have my oil changed by my other mechanic (who does most of my Jag specific work) this morning and I got up 2 hours earlier just for him not to be there or answer any of my calls.

SOOO I just said to hell with it, today was going to be the first day I learned how to change the oil on the Jag! And what a pain in the arse that was..I knew the car would be too low to get under there and luckily my buddy has 2 ramps to drive up on. But lordy that oil filter!! THATS an AWESOME spot for it I must say...I got drenched with oil because of it and was just laughin so hard at myself. lol. Needless to say I bought all the full synthetic oil I needed and went to 3 different places just to find that Jag filter. But I know this might not sound like much but I'm so happy and really enjoy being able to do my own work on my Jag. It's one thing for my Jeeps, those are easy and the oil change is just like opening the fridge door!

But while I was under the Jag today I was pokin around looking at where my Cooling Fan CLutch is going to be that I ordered a couple weeks ago. I only saw 2 similar looking items, 1 attatched to the fan right behind the radiator and the other attatched to the fan thats above that fan. They looked to be too small and didnt quite resemble my fan clutch. And to my surprise that bottom fan had some sensor or plug that was unplugged!! I couldnt believe it...I know there were electic fan clutches and the thermistat coil one that I have...did I order the wrong one if thats the right part Im looking at??? If not what did I just plug back in tonight? I'd be so happy if that was an electric fan clutch and I just fixed it myself so I can return the other one. I posted pics of what I was looking at from laying on the ground where that thing was unplugged as well as the actual pics of my fan clutch. Any advice of whats going on would be awesome!!

'93 doesn't have a fan clutch. Pre '93 does, it bolts onto the front of the water pump and the engine-driven fan blade attaches to it. On '93 and later, the engine-driven fan was deleted, and twin electric cooling fans were fitted. What you just found was one of the fans unplugged, which is enough to make the car run too hot in warm weather, particularly at idle.

It may have been intentionally disconnected: these fans do get noisey, or it may be siezed up and blowing a fuse. Run the engine up to temp and make sure they both kick on and sound OK.

Jaguar sells them as the complete unit--big bucks! We sell the individual fan units. Save you a bunch of money if one is down.

Thanks jagtech thats extremely helpful info! I hope that fan will be working ok now that it's plugged back in..it looked like the clip part of the plug was kinda snapped, so maybe after too many bumps in the road it couldnt hold on any longer..lol. Either way looks like I'm returning my fan clutch then, I'm 80 bucks richer!

And thats good to know Ken that you guys sell those individually, I just hope I dont have to buy that fan individually or not..the 400+ I just spent on the conversion kit for the rear suspension is plenty a load for me to want to deal with right now! Damn Jags, like I've always said ya either love em or hate em..haha.

is there a conversiont o switch my water pump driven fan to electrical? i have a 90 jag

I haven't seen any electrical water pumps for these. In fact, I think it's the first time I've been asked. Having a specific promblem or just looking to cut drag on the engine?
