Looking for some detailing tips for freshening the engine compartment. Just acquired a 99 XJ8L with very low miles (37000) but the prior owner did not do much to keep the engine compartment as nice as the rest of the car. Specifics would be appreciated.        Thanks  Jim

Cover the brake and clutch fluid reservoirs (if applicable) and spray on Simple Green all over the engine..let it soak for a few minutes, then garden hose and nozzle pressure wash it off..If you have a compressor, blow off all the electrical connections and let it continue to dry with hood open in the sun if possible for a hour or so (best to do this with engine a little warm yet) or you can use a leaf blower to blow off the excess water ..then dress up the hoses and plastic stuff with some Son of a gun vinyl protectant (careful not to get any on the belts)
