Dear XJ40 owners, I have been a Jaguar and Mercedes hobby enthusiast for near 20 years now. I have a complete rebuilt motor which was completed about 6 months ago. The engine number is 9DPANA132152. I must now sell this engine since I no longer have room to store it. In the following, I will describe what has been done to rebuilt the engine to factory specs. This engine was rebuilt since the car was being restored and wanted to start with a fresh engine. Extreme care was taken to ensure that during the engine rebuild that everything was kept clean (free of dirt and grease.) The block was hot tanked for any cracks or imperfections. The block was machined to ensure that mating surface to cylinder head was perfectly flat. Crankshaft was inspected by machinist and ground. Crankshaft was polished for crank seal. New standard crankshaft bearings were installed. All block gaskets and seals were replaced with new ones. All cylinder and their liners were inspected for wear and was found to still be excellent shape. All pistons were inspected and replaced when necessary. All cylinders have brand new piston ring sets. The cylinder block was taken to machine shop and was completely rebuilt. It was hot tanked. All new guides. Valves were cleaned and ground. Cylinder head cam (s) to bucket gaps were set to factory specifications. A new head gasket and valve cover seals were intalled. There are 6 new Jaguar factory spec spark plugs. The distibutor has new rotor and cover. Also, I will include whatever new coolant hoses I have. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to get a shortblock for less than $1100. We all know what the dealer would charge for the same rebuild. A rebuilt cylinder head alone would cost $900. This rebuild was done for my personal car so a great deal of care was taken to complete it correctly. An experienced Jaguar mechanic did oversee this rebuild. Steve 941-932-6108
