Hit the VCM button to pull the fuel failure codes.  We can help from there.

Hi

The reading was AV FUEL * 36 - 4L/100. Does that help? Thanks again for any help you can give.

Key on, engine not running. Wait 10 seconds. Press and hold button marked "VCM". Wait for the "fuelling failure" message to come up, there should be a number after it: 1-6 on '88, 1-7 on '89. You may have to repeat key off/ key on a few times before the number comes up. If you have an owner's manual, the codes are lited under "Specifications".
