Hey folks, first post.  I was thinking of getting an 07 XKR in a few months but I had a few questions that I can't seem to find the answers.  Thanks!

1. I noticed some cars some with runflats and others with a spare.  Model year thing?

2. The vents below the fog lights - what do the do?  Brakes?  Intake?

3. Hood vents - do they really do anything?  Don't seem to be properly placed for good engine cooling.  Also, what happens when it rains?

4. Exhaust system - some articles mention a sound/flow change under power.  Is this controlled by the ECU or exhaust pressure?  I was wondering about the effects of an aftermarket exhaust.

5. Does the XKR have a limited slip differential?  By the plumes of smoke the car generates, I think it would have to...

6. Finally, if the car I get does not have sat radio, can the dealer install the factory option after the fact?   Wouldn't they be able to just run the wires and plug it in?

1. They all have the spare. If you are getting the R, likely not gonna have runflats. Only 19" came with them. I would stay away from the runflats anyway.

2. The lower vents provide intake air as the XKR has twin air boxes.

3. The hood vents allow hot air to escape from the engine bay, not to draw air in. Rain? Does that matter?

4. Active Exhaust system which varies the flow of exhaust gases through the main silencer box to ensure that the XKR remains quiet at cruising speeds, but delivers a substantially more purposeful sound quality character under hard acceleration.

5. The only XK that had limited slip diff was the XKR-R which was not released. The new X150 may have XKR-R. Rumour has it anyway.

6. If you want Satellite radio, order the car with it. You cannot retrofit it to the car. Harnesses are different and there is no audio unit configuration to programme satelitte into it. You would be stuck with aftermarket one.

Thanks for the info!  Just a follow-up to the above answers - re:rain, I was just wondering if rain does go into the engine bay through the hood vents, especially if parked outside.  There are lots of exposed things in there that probably don't like to get wet.  Hopefully Jag designers have accounted for this.  Re:the exhaust - is this two volume mode controlled electronically or by exhaust pressure?  I don't want to throw a code if I replace the cat-back.
