Hello All,
I own a 2000 XJ8 and recently the fan has started to has started to run for long periods after I turn the car off. Even more recently the engine temperature gauge has been getting close to the red zone while I've been driving. I decided to check the engine coolant, but when I checked it, it did not appear to be low. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should start in order to track down the cause of this problem?

Replace the cooling system thermostat in your car with a factory or identical replacement. It should say "waxstat" and have a small bleed valve on the flange. Don't delay.

Thanks JagtechOhio! One more question. I have to pick up a relay for my wiper tomorrow at my local Jaguar dealership. I've looked online for a thermostat and I've seen thermostats that cost anywhere from 7.99 to 62 dollars. The After Market thermostat costs 62 dollars, however at autozone there is a duralast thermostat for 9.99. Now, I don't want to put cheap parts in my car, but I am also suspicious of dealers. If priced reasonably do you think I should pick one up from the dealer, or do you think that the duralast thermostat will do the trick?

Thanks for your help!

P.S. I've looked for a repair manual for the 2000 XJ8, but haven't been able to find one. Any, suggestions?
