HELP HELP HELP HELP US! Among many small problems, now the biggest and scariest problem me and my husband are dealing with. Driving down the highway at the posted speed limit, and OMG!, the car shuts off. All the warning lights start glowing. We were able to pull over without causing a major accident during rush hour. Restarted the car and we fearfully made our way to public trans. That afternoon we were able to make it back home. Drove the car a couple of time after this incident, with no problem (Thought it was a fluke). The next time it did the same thing, we had the car towed to the shop. They kept the car for 4 days. Could not find any reason for this. Drove the car for one month with no problems until last week. On one of the busiest highways in our area, we were once again doing around 65+mph. OMG IBD (I'll Be Damn) it happens again. This time we're in the middle 3rd lane of the hwy and had to do some Mario Andretti moves to get to the shoulder. TUJ (Thank you Jesus) we didn't kill anyone and especially we didn't get hurt.

Has anyone, I mean ANYONE ever had/have this happen? What is the remedy? Please help. If not, 2004 XJ8 VP for sale, Low Miliage, Clean. LOL

Didn't consider the fuel issue. Will that cause all warning lights to illuminate? You might be close. Cause there were times when we filled the gas tank and the gauge would start going up and down between full/empty.

All of the warning lights illuminate AFTER the car has already stalled, this has nothing to do with WHY the car stalled. You will not be able to diagnose or repair this problem yourself, your time is better spent networking with other local owners or researching consumer comments to locate a repairer with the expertise and equipment to diagnose and repair your car. Best wishes.

If you can fix things yourself, try changing the fuel pump relay and checking its harness.  There is also an ignition capacitor that is central to the ignition coils, look at it and its harness.  Then look at the fuel pump module and its harness. Beyond this, one would need the car to do more. The car is so complex, doing much without the dealer computer system can require experience or trial and error or both. You can get into the trunk fuse box and look for corrosion, as was already mentioned. All the dash lights coming on is normal when the engine stalls. Your problem is very dangerous, a trip to the shop is my recommendation.
