Hello all,
New member here, looking for some feed back on me possibly selling my 1975 XJ6C. I do not know if you all are purists or open to modified cars, do not wish to offend anybody with my project. Here is the description.

1975 XJ6C burgandy ext., needs paint, has a couple of rust pin holes but nothing to get too excited about. 1 small dent behind drivers door above rocker panel.
Interior is camel, no rips or tears, dash finish needs complete re-do, needs new carpet & head liner.
Stock chrome wheels in ok condition.

Now for the modifications,

Engine & trans;
502 c.i.d. Chev. big block new crate motor installed, 440hp 513 ft/lbs, 750 Holley, custom tri-y headers, custom stainless exhaust, Msd, Etc. etc. Etc.
Turbo 400 trans, completely new with all top shelf internals & shift upgrades, kevlar bands & clutchs, Torrington thrust bearings, new torque converter, custom 1 piece balanced drive shaft, Etc. Etc. Etc.

Suspension;
!00% new XJ40 front suspension parts (i.e. ball joints, tie rods etc., etc). All front & rear suspension parts powder coated black!!
Koni shocks front & rear, all new chassis mounts front & rear.
XJ12 Posi rear end 2.73 ratio, all new half shaft u-joints, also powder coated black!!
VERY RARE NEW "Harvey Baily Engineering front & rear anti-sway bars(yes you read correct rear bar also!!)
Etc. Etc. Etc.

Tires & Wheels;
New O.Z. Mito modular 3 piece wheels all 17" with Dunlop SP8000 tires, 225 fronts & 255 rears, custom made just for this car & my specifications.

More stuff;
Custom made stainless steel 40 gallon fuel cell in trunk with fill from either side of car from stock fill caps.

Body;

Euro front & rear bumpers have been added eliminating the 5mph shocks and massive rubber bumperettes.
Euro lower front valance to match Euro bumpers.
Euro front turn signals.

Details;
The entire installation of engine & trans was done with a "Johns Cars" kit with no drilling or cutting or butchering. The only body modifications was for the dual gas tank fill tubes, and that was just to the inner trunk walls inside the trunk.

There is way more but the jist of the situation is is that I have around 20k in receipts not counting my time & labor, and if I do sell this it has to go to somebody who will appreciate this unique car. So what do you folks think? Any interest?

Well, since you asked...

First thing I'd do is to invest in at least an acceptable paint job. You'll be lucky to get half of your investment back if the car is not presentable.

With all of the expensive performance mods, the car should be a turn-key rocket ship for the prospective buyer to test drive. If I heard "Well, it still needs a....", I'd walk away laughing.

As far as return on your investment, coupes seem to be bringing out some collector car money. I'd have gone for restoration versus modification. I think you build a car like yours because you want one, and have to accept the possibility that no one else may share your goals. Best of luck with it.

I like some of the modifications you made, though my Jags are 95% original. That car must be fast.

There is a guy in Finland who also did a XJ-12-C with lots of modifications, and he even adapted a XJ-40 rear cage in a MK-1.  He's an engineer so he can get away with it.

check his work here:   http://jaguar.fiboy.com/

There are all types out there so I would not bother making any excuses for the work you have done.  Purists are in the minority. We all modify cars one way or another. It's your car and you can put two engines in it if you like.

tell you what:  register at Jag-Lovers and place pictures of your car showing the modifications you've made, but don't hint at the selling it, otherwise you get reprimanded because no selling or hints of selling are allowed in the XJ forum over there.  Once you got that done, then place a free Ad offering your car in JAGADS,  putting a clickable link to the post you made in the ad, so they can see the pics.

You might get a mix of responses, there's a good number of owners there who lump their XJ, (they call them Lumps), converting to GM transmissions and engines, so you're not alone.

good luck, I'm sure you'll find a buyer. How much are you asking?

Jose

Welcome quack!

Where are the pics of it at?  You should add photos to your picture gallery on here so everyone can look at it.

One thing to keep in mind...

Hello folks,
Ok,ok.....I will try to post some pics. All the pics I have on it are from my pre-digital camera days. I have had poor to worse luck with my printer/scanner at getting reasonable copies of old paper photos. Soooo..I will try some new ones with my digital.
Man....now you guys are going to make me pull off the car cover and deal with dust and spiders. I can not wash the car since it is now traped in my garage by my 1950 Spartan travel trailer thats blocking the door, and it''s torn apart at present. So these are going to be some pretty dusty pictures. I will try to get to it this weekend.

Hello again,
Failed to tell you where I''m located. I''m in the greater Seattle area.
In my list of what the car has, I also failed to mention it has all new Stainlees Steel Brake Corporation rebuilt calipers and new stainless steel lined master cylinder, all running dot 4 fliud( no more Girling type fluid). And the rear Koni shocks have fully adjustable ride height collars, and I have a pair of front springs that should put the ride height down about 2" from stock.
Man....I know there is more & more & more, just need to vacuum out the cob webs from my cranium.

Sounds like you have a lot of work to do before you try to sell this beast.

yeahh, like 4 hours worth of work to pull the trailer back out and out of the way, pull the car back, wash it, take pictures, push the trailer back in before the car, then push the car back in after the trailer. If the neighbor helps, that''s less work.
