I have a 2004 XJ8 (X350?) and needed a service manual. I asked and poked around and ofund that the JTIS is the only one recommended. They are on Ebay but.... only with Paypal which I will not use after having credit cards stolen through them and causing a month long nightmare just to cancel my account.

I found a JTIS at electronicmanuals.uk and bought a license to download it. It clearly said that it covered 2004 models.

I installed it, started it up, looked around I was really confused. Examples:

Engine control section -
1) tells how to take apart the accessory drive
2) how to replace the knock sensors and intake air temp sensor
That''s it! Nothing else

Transmission section -
1) capacityt and torque values (1 page)
2) picture of outside of transmission (1 page)
3) mechanics 101 explaining what is a transmission and torque converter (1 page)

So I look through the entire manual (if you can call it that) to find...
1) OBD2 terminal location - not mentioned
2) How to change (or find) fuel filter - not mentioned
3) How to check trans fluid level and change fluid / filter - not mentioned
4) Do anything - not mentioned

The entire manual is just the introductory pages to any chapters usually seen in a typical service manual. I don''t get it. And.... even if it did have my car in it (which doesn''t), it says pretty much nothing about anything. I understand that a factory manual considers that the mechanic is factory trained so it should not have to cover basic automotive mechanics. But my Porsche manual shows service routines typical to that car. My Corvette manuals... same. This has nothing except what looks like a dectn set of wiring diagrams (just not for my car).
Not one single occurance of X350, or 2004, or ZF 6 speed, AJ34, etc, etc, etc.

Now the maddening part. I wrote to electronicmanuals.uk using their "service ticket" rather than an email. This they assured me would make it easier for them (go figure). I said that I could not find any reference to my car model and year and did they have the correct manual for me.
Their (obviously) canned response was that they were sorry about the problems I had installing the program and that 99% of the time it worked correctly. So I reiterated in a second request. Same stupid response. I got nasty on the third email telling them that they apparently didn''t even care enough about their customers (the people who pay them) to read their emails. I asked for a refund and got it with the same stupid response from them but the words "refunded" added. These guys could care less about the people that send them money. Keep this in mind when dealing with them.

Now... the big question. Is what I describe above the same for all the JTIS manuals out there or is this a bogus copy to start with? And more importantly, where can I get a service manual for my 2004 X350 XJ8? That is, other than these English guys or the Paypal guy on Ebay? Does anyone out there have a JTIS that actually tells how to repair a 2004 X350 XJ8 that they are willing to sell me? I''m just tired of dealing with a**holes and I need a service manual. Pleeeeeease help.
