I have a 04 XJ8. I just got the 40,000 mile service done, now I have 41,000 miles and the engine light came on. Does anyone know how to turn it off without going into a dealer?

You would need an OBD2 reader. Best to find out what set it off first. The reader can also reset the error code(light off).

Where is the scanner connector on the 04 XJ8?

i am also curious about the location for the 2000 XJ8, maybe they are in the same place?

The 04 XJ connector is under the driver(left in US) side dash panel just next to the console. I think 00 is the same.

2004 is actually loacted on the right side under the dash of the drivers side.. near right knee..
