Im just wondering if anybody on here has ever actually tested the odometer on their car.  My mom has been switching off between driving my jaguar or her rendezvous on her 50 mile drive to her internship every day.  The first week she drove her rendezvous, and it registers as a 50 mile trip (my mom checks the milage because she is paid based on how many miles she goes)  She took my jaguar and it registers as 45 miles, on the exact same trip. Has anyone else heard of this happening, my dad thinks it may have been because he put larger tires on the car.

ALl i know is that it means Im actually getting 17.6 mpg not 16.

I believe I read that tirerack has a table with correction factors for alternate tire sizes. I think if you do a lirrle searching, and then do the math, you''ll have your answers.

that would make sense if your dad has bigger tires on the rendevous beacuase I have the larger tires and 17" rims on my jag and it effected the speedometer just slightly so it prolly messes around with the mileage too and that would apply to any car or truck with bigger tires.

Anything can be done, but for all practical applications, I''d say it can''t.

Changing tire size equals speedometer/odometer error. You used to be able to get the speedometer calibrated. Check with a local taxi company, I''m sure they can refer someone who does it.

Who are these kind taxi drivers in your cities who refer people.  Here in Chicago a taxi once tried to call the cops on me for having my car sitting near his at station, a taxi driver once tried to kill me because he said I was riding my bike in his lane, and taxi driver''s  in general are just mean people where I''m from.
