Loss of compression at only 130,000 miles? I have heard of the AJ16 engine having the occasional head gasket issue when over 100,000, but not a total loss on one cylinder. I''ve seen good runners with 110-130,000 going for $4500 or less. Figure $1,000-$1,500 for a complete engine (unless you do fix the existing one yourself, and you might find the repair to be cheaper once you get the head off), and see if you want to invest in it. If you plan on keeping the car, it will pay for itself by being a very nice car to drive. Fortunately, the straight-six design is very easy to work on, and Jaguar did a nice job leaving service room on this car.
