In the US/Canada the Sat Nav system requires you to "agree/disagree" and also severely limits access to many functions of the Sat Nav while the car is in motion (eg entering addresses, finding POIs etc). Of course I am not advocating the abitlity for the driver to enter complex route information at 100 mph, but I would like it if the passenger could access the system at least!!
From reading various websites, there are some tantalizing hints, but nothing specific on how to bypass these restrictions. In Europe, apparently, these restrictions dont exist - so maybe there is a hack to the Sat Nav software, firmware etc?? I found a reference about going into diagnostic mode and entering a code - but apparently this only works until the next time the ignition is turned off. Some have suggested disconnecting a speed sensor wire to the computer?
My dealer of course denies any capabality of getting around this. Has anyone been able to do it or have any specific insights?
