98 XJ8 Timing cover gasket - 6/24/2008 12:48:40 PM    Michigan   Posts: 13 Joined: 1/8/2008 Status: offline Apparently the oil dripping from my engine on the 1998 XJ8 is coming from the timing cover gasket. Is 6 hours labor for the garage realistic, has anyone done one at home, is it very difficult or can patience prevail? Thanks, Michigan. Post #: 1

Unless you remove radiator, probably will need torches to get the bolt out of damper. With radiator out though, impact will get it out. 6 hours for timing cover removal is about right.
