I am the original owner of a 1988 Jaguar Vanden Plas in pristine condition with 87,000 miles.  If I change from the recommended tire size of P205/70 R 15 to a wider tire, say P225/60 R 15,  would the car ride the same, better, or worse?

The car may feel more stable.  The 93/94 models came with the larger size tires.  You are good to go!
