Replacing the front bearings is quite inexpensive and if it were me, I''d do it, in fact I just have on my XJ as there was a growling noise whenever I turned right. A set of new bearings and hey presto! Gone. If the rack can be tightened, and it''s not going to cost some retarded amount, I''d get that done too. I think one of the worst thing you can do with Jaguars is wait til it get worse. I mean given the cost of so called  ''minor'' repairs I''d hate to have to do a major one. Then I''d need to borrow some real money from my rich friend Jack Rabbit,
