Well as in any product, it is all about money. The S-Type was failing sales(less than 500 new units in all of 2007) and Jaguar needed a model to compete with the likes of BMW, Lexus, Infinity, etc. that would appeal to the same market that the others are selling to. The XF fits that bill. In March, Jaguar sold 1,750 units and the XF accounted for 1,164 of them. Somebody out there really likes them. The X-Type is still produced, but not sold in the US anymore due to lack of sales.
